High School Athletes

High school athletes finally have a place to display their talents to college recruiters. The client, being a former high school athlete, came to us wanting the website to appeal to students and older college recruiters.

Planned Website Architecture

We planned this website from the start. The client had a very loose idea and we worked with him to develop his revenue model, day to day tasks, and admin area. Our consultant did research on other sites and used his expertise to develop a manageable website for a college student. Without this planning stage the website would not have been finished on time or within budget.

Email College Recruiters

One of the great features on playforacollege.com is recruiter email capability. We built into the admin area a college recruiter management tool. The owner can go to different colleges and get REAL college recruiter information (name, email, division, sport, ect..) and enter it into the database. The students can then fill out their profile and simply search for the colleges they want to email their profile to. Once they select the college an html email with all the students stats will be sent to the recruiter. He/she can choose to go to the website and investigate the student further or delete the email. The recruiter’s information is never given out; it’s only updated in the database for the admin to see. Currently the owner is gathering his database of recruiters.

SEO Friendly Profiles

All the profile pages were made to be search engine friendly. When a student makes a page it will automatically take their name, school name, and graduation date and place it in the H1 Title tag. Along with that it will create the same meta tag title with city, state, and sport on the profile page. We did this because traffic was shown to be looking for schools and graduation dates of athletes. If we organized the title tags in this manner we could capitalize on natural search engine growth.

Add Videos And Pictures

Each profile has the ability to add multiple videos and pictures. You can even organize the pictures and videos into folders. If the student added a photo or video already and it was outside a folder. They could select the folder and move the video/picture to the newly created folder.

Multiple Sports On One Profile

Each student has the ability to add multiple sports to their profile page. Now, if the student plays multiple sports they can display all of them on one profile page. We used a combination of ajax and css to keep the profiles as search engine friendly as possible. We also gave the students the ability to highlight a sport on the profile page. The student may want people to focus on his/her soccer stats but also wants people to know he/she is a multi talented athlete.
